GoldSignal is a filing-sourced data platform for precious metal equities. Every position, every insider transaction, every number on this site traces back to a public SEC disclosure or other public statement that you can verify yourself.
Sources: SEC EDGAR, Canadian SEDI where covered, Polygon.io (primary market data), Financial Modeling Prep (supplemental). Updated on a scheduled cadence.
That last number is not a bug.
The precious metals sector is saturated with newsletters, promoters, and paid stock features. Most of what circulates is opinion wearing the costume of research. The people writing it are frequently compensated by the companies they cover.
Meanwhile the actual signal, what serious capital allocators are doing with their own money, is sitting in public filings that almost nobody reads because they are tedious, fragmented, and formatted for lawyers.
GoldSignal exists to close that gap. We read the filings so you can see the behavior.
What you get
What you will never get
If a number appears on this site, we can point to where it came from. If we cannot, we do not publish it.
01
Ingest
SEC EDGAR filings are pulled on a schedule (Form 3, 4, 5, 13D, 13G, 13F), along with Canadian SEDI where covered. Market and company data come from Polygon.io (primary) with Financial Modeling Prep as a supplemental fill for thin OTC and Canadian names.
02
Normalize
Tickers are resolved to a single canonical symbol and exchange. Collisions and delistings are handled explicitly, not silently.
03
Validate
Rows are checked for completeness. Missing dates, sides, or share counts are rejected rather than estimated.
04
Cache
Everything is precomputed and written to cache. Pages read from cache, never from a live market-data API on page load.
05
Publish
The data appears in portfolios, stock pages, insider activity, and signals.

| Filing | What it tells you | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Form 3 | Initial statement of beneficial ownership by an insider | On appointment |
| Form 4 | Insider buys and sells, with date, side, and share count | Within 2 business days of the transaction |
| Form 5 | Deferred or missed insider transactions | Annual |
| Schedule 13D | Active stake above 5 percent, with intent disclosed | Within 5 business days of crossing |
| Schedule 13G | Passive stake above 5 percent | Annual or on material change |
| Form 13F | Fund position above the reporting threshold, filed quarterly | 45 days after quarter end |
13F filings are backward looking by design. A quarterly holdings report tells you where a fund stood on the last day of the quarter, not where it stands today. We show the filing date alongside every position so the lag is visible instead of hidden.
Market data (primary)
Polygon.io
Primary feed for prices, market caps, betas, and historical series. Cached in the background; pages never call it live on load.
Market data (supplemental)
Financial Modeling Prep
Layered behind Polygon to fill company profile and fundamental fields when the primary feed is thin, especially OTC and Canadian-listed junior miners.

GoldSignal is built and maintained by Jon Binder.
I've been investing in precious metals mining stocks since 2019. Over the years, I realized that some of the most valuable information in this sector is already public. The challenge is that it's scattered across thousands of regulatory filings and difficult to track consistently.
I work in data and systems, so I built the tool I wished existed. GoldSignal collects public filings, organizes them, and turns them into clear, searchable signals. Instead of spending hours reading SEC filings, insider reports, and fund disclosures, investors can understand what matters in seconds.
My background is in data and human-computer interaction. I hold a Master's in Human-Computer Interaction from Iowa State University and a bachelor's degree in International Business and Economics from the University of Findlay. That combination shaped the philosophy behind GoldSignal. The hard part is not collecting data. It is presenting complex information in a way that people can quickly understand and confidently use.
I also believe people deserve the opportunity to preserve the value of their work over time. Whether someone is saving for retirement, building a business, or supporting a family, years of effort represent something worth protecting. That belief led me to precious metals and ultimately to building GoldSignal.
GoldSignal does not tell people what to buy. It gives everyone access to the same public information used by company insiders, specialist investors, and institutions, without expensive subscriptions or countless hours spent reading regulatory filings.
The goal is simple. Signal over noise.
Why it matters
Sound money is not a trade. It is a position on how a society should treat the savings of the people who produce its wealth.
Currency debasement is a quiet transfer. It moves purchasing power from people who earn and save to institutions that print and borrow, and it does so without a vote, without a debate, and without a line item anyone has to defend. The people who take gold and silver seriously are, more often than not, taking that transfer seriously.
GoldSignal is built for that reader. Not the speculator chasing the next drill result, but the person who wants to see clearly, decide independently, and hold the consequences of their own judgment. We publish facts because facts are what independence runs on. Everything else is somebody else's opinion, and you did not come here for that.
Verifiable or absent
Every figure traces to a public document. If we cannot source it, we do not ship it.
No incentive to mislead
We take no money from covered companies. There is no sponsored tier and there never will be.
Show the uncertainty
Gold Beta ships with R-squared. Filing dates ship with positions. We surface the lag instead of burying it.
You decide
We do not rank, score, or grade. Interpretation is your job and we are not going to take it from you.
Educational information sourced from public filings (SEC EDGAR, SEDI where covered) and named market-data providers (Polygon.io primary, Financial Modeling Prep supplemental). Not investment advice.
